12 Newborn Essentials For Your Baby's First Few Months!

HEY MAMAS! Before I really get started on this post I wanted to let you know of something amazing that Amazon offers. That is – their BABY REGISTRY! If your still looking on where to get one be sure to check out Amazon. They offer wonderful perks for prime members with baby registries and they send you an AWESOME welcome box!

So, lets talk baby products! When I first found out I was pregnant I was so excited to start buying things for our baby. The problem was – there were so many products to choose from and it was a little overwhelming. I would spend a lot of time searching Pinterest or even googling products that were considered “newborn must-haves.”

I was clueless on what a newborn needed but having the resources from other mamas truly was a lifesaver. So, I’m excited to share this list I made of newborn essentials that I personally used myself. Maybe this list can help a mama out!

Bottles

I used these Dr. Browns bottles for my son and they were amazing. He had acid reflux and they really helped with keeping the spitting up to a minimum. They are designed to assist in the management and treatment of complicated oral feeding issues and they help decrease gassiness. Hands down – best bottles!

Halo Bassinet

It is recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics that your newborn baby sleeps in the same room as you for the first six months to a year to help with the prevention of SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). Having my son sleep in the same room with me for the first few months helped me sleep better knowing that I could be right there if he needed me. Of course your baby will need their own sleep space so having a bassinet is key. The Halo Bassinet was my first choice!

It had a 360 degree rotation where I could turn the bassinet in order to get out of bed without disturbing him or I could pull it closer to me when he was crying. One of the side walls lowered so that it was easier to get him out. It also included a nightlight, lullabies, vibration, and more. If your gonna get a bassinet; the Halo is the way to go.

Snuggle Me Organic Co Sleeper

I received the Snuggle Me Organic Co-Sleeper as a gift but I highly recommend this product to all new mamas. The design of the co-sleeper actually pulls your baby in making it feel like they are being held, which helps calm them. My son loved being held so with this sleeper I was able to put him down without him knowing so that I could get the cleaning done or dinner on the stove.

Owlet Smart Sock Baby Monitor

The Owlet Smart Sock was my #1 baby buy. I had a friend whose baby passed away at 2 months old and it was ruled as SIDS. I knew that I would have a very hard time sleeping not knowing if my son was okay so I invested in this product. It was the best decision! The Owlet Smart Sock tracks your baby’s heart beat and oxygen levels while they sleep. It’s connected to a base station that glows green if everything is okay and changes colors if anything else is detected. This product kept my anxiety levels down because I knew my son was okay during the night. I was able to sleep and I wasn’t one of those moms constantly checking if my baby was breathing. I highly recommend moms of newborns investing in this product.

Boppy

My favorite nursing pillow was the Boppy. It provides relief for your arms and back while holding your little one for breastfeeding or bottle feeding. You can also use the Boppy for propping, tummy time, or teaching them how to sit up. Another benefit of getting the Boppy is being able to change the slipcovers out. This was one of my other favorite buys and my husband loved it too.

Auto Rock ‘n Play Sleeper

My son absolutely loved his auto rock ‘n play and I hear a lot of babies do because of the inclined position. My son actually had acid reflux really bad so having the sleeper was perfect for him because it kept him from being in so much pain. I think an auto rock ‘n play should be another one of those items at the top of the list for mamas to be. Included is soothing music , two speeds, and you can customize it right from your smartphone.

White Noise Machine

Having a white noise machine can be a lifesaver. I know it was for us! White noise can help with calming a baby and getting them to sleep. The baby white noise sound machine here includes 6 soothing sounds and it is portable, so you can take it with you on the go. My son at 7 months still loves the sound of his white noise machine so it is a good buy that you can use for a long time.

Halo SleepSack Swaddle

This Halo SleepSack Swaddle is amazing! Honestly, I had a hard time learning how to swaddle with just a blanket so I invested in these and they make swaddling so easy. Your baby can sleep arms in, hands-to-face or one or both arms out. They are also very easy to transition out of when it is time to stop swaddling.

Fridababy Bitty Bundle of Joy

This amazing bundle comes with my favorites. I think all of these products in here are essential to have for a newborn in those first few months and beyond. In this bundle there is the Nosefrida, the Fridet Mom Washer, Nail Frida Snipper Clipper and 10 Windi the Gas Passer instant gas relief tubes.  Trust me when I say your going to want to have all of these.

Infantino 3-in-1 Grow with me Activity Gym and Ball Pit

The activity gym and ball pit was a great purchase and highly recommended. Newborn cannot play with the balls but this is a wonderful product for tummy time with your baby. We bought this exact activity gym for our son and have loved it. He was able to grow into playing with the balls so it’s great for long time use. Check it out here!

Bottle Warmer

A good bottle warmer is always on the list. Yes some babies can drink their milk cold or hot but my son is not one of them. Thankfully, we got a bottle warmer. This 4-in-1 bottle warmer does well at warming breastmilk, formula, baby food and also sterilizes bottles. Who wouldn’t want that? I highly recommend this product. I’m not the mama that’s trying to stand there at 3am heating up the stove with a bottle in the water. NOPE!

Kinsa Thermometer

The Kinsa Thermometer was amazing! As a new mom I was exhausted and with my son being born three weeks early he had a hard time regulating his temp. We had to keep him bundled up and check his temperature often. The Kinsa thermometer was a lifesaver when it came to this because it connected to an app on my phone and plugged in what his temp was and the time. I was able to keep track (thankfully, because I have mom brain) and I still use it now. The app also allows you to keep track of the medications you give your baby, and the symptoms they are experiencing. This is very helpful especially when your doctor ask you questions that are health related.

Is there anything in particular that helped you through those first few months being home with a newborn? Please feel free to share below in the comments, I would love to hear and I’m sure other mamas would too!
