Hey there! So, our son is officially a one year old – say what? They say, “Don’t blink when you have a baby,” but I must have because this year has flown by and it makes me so sad. I find myself continuously looking at photos of my son when he was first born or watching videos and then next thing you know I’m balling my eyes out. I cannot believe how fast life goes when you add a child into the mix.
Today on the blog, I am sharing with you the ultimate gift guide for a one year old’s birthday. If you’re anything like me than looking for a gift for a baby, especially for a one year old can be a little difficult. Honestly, you never know what they are going to want to play with. My son can play with spoons from the kitchen and be happy but I wanted to make sure that I got him toys that were going to help with his learning while also being fun.
All of the gifts that I have listed below are ones that my son has received and they are my absolute favorites!
RAIN SHOWERS SPLASH POND WATER TABLE
Summer is approaching and this is the perfect gift that will get your little ones outside and playing with the water. My son loves water so this is a gift that I was really excited about getting him. This water table has a waterfall effect where you pour the water in the top and watch it rain down.
FIRST 100 WORDS BOOK SET
This little book set comes with the first 100 words, first 100 animals, and first 100 numbers, colors, and shapes. This is a great little set that will help with your little on getting on the right track to learning words. I practice with my son every other night to help him get used to the words and what he is seeing in the book so that he can put them together. It’s exciting watching your little one learn.
ZANY ZOO – WOODEN ACTIVITY CUBE
Zany Zoo is by far the best gift we have received and one of my son’s favorites. It will definitely have your little one occupied for a long time. Every time my son gets a glimpse of this toy, he gets super excited and starts bouncing and talking in his baby language. He will drop any other toy and forget about everything else when we bring this toy out. Zany Zoo is a recommendation that I would give to all parents.
VTECH SMART SHOTS SPORTS CENTER
This toy is a 2-in-1 with a basketball hoop sports center and a toddler soccer net. It includes a basketball for shooting hoops and a soccer ball for kicking. It helps toddlers develop motor skills while also introducing them to shakes, numbers and sounds. This is another one of my son’s favorites! We have played with it a few times and he loves throwing the basketball into hoop and listening to the scoreboard count the number of times he has scored.
FISHER PRICE LAUGH AND LEARN SERVIN’ UP FUN FOOD TRUCK
Here is another toy that is a must for all parents. I know – I keep saying toys are my son’s favorites but he just absolutely loves this one too. It has an interactive food prep area, a sink, a light-up grill and even a service bell. It has 3 smart stages levels of learning content which grows with your little one which I definitely love. Right now my son can sit and play for a while, pulling everything off the little food truck and trying to eat everything.
MEGA BLOKS 80 – PIECE BIG BUILDING BAG
Every kid loves BLOCKS! This bag comes with 80 classic-colored building blocks which also includes special shapes. It comes with the bag which is perfect for an easy cleanup. Having these helps with early childhood development with the hands-on play. My son loves blocks and also loves watching his dad build things just so he can knock them down.
MEGA BLOKS BUILD ‘N LEARN TABLE BUILDING SET
This is a toy we actually do not have but it goes with the Mega Blocks 80 – piece building bag. I will definitely be purchasing this gift for my son to put in his playroom. Something great about this table is the face that it can fold and you can totally take it with you to wherever you travel too. This will be great for the vacations we plan to take this year.
HAPE POUND & TAP BENCH WITH SLIDE OUT XYLOPHONE
All little ones need a musical toy and this is the perfect one. This xylophone can be played in a variety of different ways. It helps promote hand eye coordination, manipulation, arm movement, and cause and effect. Also another great thing about this toy is that it is child safe – it contains water-based paints and has non-toxic finishes. My son loves beating on this toy but sometimes he mostly just chews on the stick the pounder. Kids? Right!
VTECH SIT TO STAND LEARNING WALKER
This is just another toy that in on my sons favorites list. He did not receive this for his first birthday but I think it would be a perfect gift. This baby walker has a removable panel that little ones can play with without the walker or have it connected and play with it. The walker works on carpet or hardwood floors which is a plus. My son loves pulling himself up and attempting to walk with this toy – he’s not that great at walking yet but this toy has definitely helped with improving his skills.
MY FIRST TOUCH AND FEEL PICTURE CARDS
I seriously love watching my little guy learn and grow so I found these little flash cards that help with teaching my son his first words. This is an add on for me with the books that I mentioned up above but with this comes 16 colorful first word flash cards that are designed to develop early language skills. They also have separate purchases of flash cards for colors, shapes, and animals.
So.. there you have it a list of 10 great gift ideas for your one year old. It’s so crazy how our littles grow so fast but it’s amazing the changes that they are making. Having some great learning toys for them to play with is perfect for development. I really hoped you enjoyed checking out my list and wishing you all the success in planning for your little ones first birthday.
